Hi christophmcleod; I am also very big on the two greatest commandments. Read my post on What Teaching do you Hobby Horse.

As far as the Lordship crowd are you meaning the "Lord of all or Lord not at all" teaching. I would hold that Christ being your Lord of all is directly about the first commandment.

David professed to be a worm, Paul told us we lived in a "vile body", and Jesus told us to confess we are "unprofitable servants". But even with this in mind I won't take the Puritan view post-salvation we are wretch's. I think this was taken from a misunderstanding of Romans 7 where Paul brings out his pre-salvation experience of "oh wretched man that I am" (Rom 7:24). I cover the Romans 7 issue briefly in my post on Pauls Experience in Romans Chapter 7.

I have to say in all humility, I pretty much reject the Christ of the "Lordship crowd". Christ came to seek and so save that which was lost (mercy mission?). That sounds compassionate and loving to me. It doesn't sound heavy-handed and domineering like the lordship crowd likes to talk. The whole "BOW in the presence of the Almighty LORD". My children know I'm more powerful and wise than them, but I don't expect them to grovel before me and thank me every for accepting "a wretch like them".

The two greatest commandments: 1) Love God, 2) Love Neighbor. Both of those commands start with Love; neither with Grovel.

Thoughts?

Hi MikeonTV; Thank you for your post. Here are 24 reasons to betray Christ. They don't sound very good to me.

1. You want to be unhappy and not blessed.
2. You want to be miserable.
3. You want to be in distress and agony.
4. You want to be deceived.
5. You want to be against Christ.
6. You want to regret denying Christ.
7. You want to be ashamed of your conduct.
8. You want to be possessed with devils.
9. You want to loose your mind.
10. You want to eat pigs food.
11. You want to eat your vomit and wallow in excrement.
12. You want to be cast out.
13. You want to not do good and to do evil.
14. You want to find out that there only short pleasure in sin.
15. You want to be overcome by hurtful lusts.
16. You want to loose all benefits from Christ.
17. You want to cause others to reject Christ.
18. You want to hate Christ.
19. You want to be in bondage to sin.
20. You want to weep bitterly.
21. You want to be in a worse state.
22. You want to be cast into outer darkness.
23. You want to be cast into fire.
24. You want to be in a state where it was better you were never born.

Now keep in mind I am not talking about rejecting nominal Christianity. I encourage people to do that. I am talking about rejecting the Jesus of the Bible and what he stood for.
