hi Rocky, why would you trust a degree in theology when theologians themselves are not unified on many key doctrines?
We are told to judge by the fruits, and the fruits of those who taught entire sanctification, such as Wesley, Finney, Brainherd etc easily proves their grounding in God.
As for Rom 7 teaching that all sin and that Paul was sinner post conversion, i can only say your teachers are the blind leading the blind.
We are also warned of mocking that which we do not understand and this was a trait of the Pharisee`s who were very adept at side stepping the truth in favour of the traditions on men. It is the same today, many are predjudiced by what they think is right by the teaching they sit under, and will not weigh the evidence provided in favour of traditions.
May God open the eyes of His church to its grave error and stubborness to learn truth.

I cannot believe that you are so unaware of the teachings of the New Testament. I have 2 degrees in Theology and I am working on my third.

There is NO SUCH THING as a person who doesn't sin. Salvation doesn't keep you from sinning. By what you have written, you have never sinned after salvation? Never wanted a new car? Never liked your neighbor's house and wished it was yours? Never got mad? Never had a negative thought against someone? These are ALL sins.

We will be sinless when we go home. Only then.

Lastly, have you read Romans 7?

Didn't Christ die for all are sins, past, present and future? If he didn't, then what was His purpose.

Be careful. Those who teach will be judged more harshly, especially if they are not teaching the Word correctly.

Hi Murray,

I agree that water Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but an important act for us to do in obedience to the Bible. While I being in immersion and saying "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit" I would agree that obedience to the Bible is more important than the mode.

As far as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit being the key to getting and keeping victory over sin I would disagree. A person can have victory over all willful or known sin without with out experiencing what many call the entire sanctification or the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

How ever I do believe that after we are saved God will be faithful to show us that we are selfish and lead us to give up all our rights and live a selfless life. If we fail to follow on with this work of grace as God deals with us, we will cool off and become backslidden in heart and get to the place where we fail the grace of God and fall into willful sin.

Christian love and prayers,

Bob.

Bob - the key is the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. The physical Baptism with water, as far as I understand, has no impact on whether we are saved or not. It is however an important act for us to perform because it is the confirmation in public that we now accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Therefore, whether it is full immersion or just a sprinkling is irrelevant. It is the act, in front of the congregation, that is important.

Hi Dennis,

I was re-baptized after I had proven myself for about 6 months due to the fact that my sins had been done openly (drug use).

Baptism is an interesting subject. While I am a strong immersist I would not question someones baptism who was sprinkled or poured. When it comes to what you say when you are baptized I don't think it matters. I would hold that being baptized in Jesus name is something that the baptizer is to do not say. Also we have no examples that the New Covenant baptizers said anything when baptizing people.

Clearly put 'Danny Bob' [your sister gave me that one]
Good to see the right seteps to follow for a victorious, transformed life in Christ.
Wondering were you put the act of believers baptism in all of this.?
Jack Witock taught a good course on 'spiritual formations' that looked at the necessity to do this sort of accountability living if one is to be a vicorious follower of Christ.
Jack is pastoring some of the 'Free Churches' on the island but teaches for the Reformed Presbyterians from Hanninton House here on THE island.
You [perhaps] are at the opposite ends of the theological spectrum but both sound like singing the same hymns. Interesting.
