Hockey FightI think hockey in the NHL form is sinful. It is a game of fights, emulation, very hard body checks that often cause injuries, swearing, verbal abuse, and all manner of evil thoughts and evil speaking between the teams.

Jesus wouldn’t kick back and watch the game but he would call all NHL lovers to repentance.

So Jesus is calling to repentance NHL lovers and calling them to forsaking sinful NHL hockey.

It is also my understand that if Jesus spoke against these things he would not sit down with the boys and enjoy watching the very things we came to shed his blood and give his life to save people from.

Hockey on the back pond where there is no checking, fights, or emulation I can accept as not against scriptures. But having seen NFL games before I was converted to Christ, I can’t understand how a child of God that hates all sin in word, deed, and thought, could enjoy your typical NHL game.

It seems there is not a lot of difference between enjoying to watch sin and committing the same sin ones self.

The pure in heart hate sin in all forms whether those forms are acceptable to society or not.

Fights, emulation, very hard body checks that often cause injuries, swearing, verbal abuse, and all manner of evil thoughts and evil speaking are things that are accepted and expected as the norm in NHL play.

A question you can ask yourself is would Jesus preach and teach against the above list and then sit down with others and enjoy watching the very things he has not only taught against but he trying to save people from.

If Jesus lives in us he will have an influence over us that will cause us to reject the things he rejected and to accept the things that he accepted.

Jesus rejected would reject fights, emulation, very hard body checks that often cause injuries, swearing, verbal abuse, and all manner of evil thoughts and evil speaking, therefore if he lives in us he will influence us to reject that same list even in forms that are socially accepted.

One of these forms is NHL hockey.

Yet Paul invoked the pathos and terminology of wrestling in a lot of his writings…..go figure.
